Lurgan Heating Oil Delivery:

Lurgan Fuel Oil

Lurgan Fuel Oil

Lurgan, PA is a Franklin County community in Lurgan Township. It’s located just north of Shippensburg, and both locales are known for experiencing plenty of harsh winter weather. Unfortunately, Lurgan’s location makes it a beautiful place to live but a hard place to afford to hea a home. Thankfully, all Lurgan residents benefit from cost-effective, clean burning heating oil delivery from Penn-Mar Oil Company.

The town is named after Lurgan, another small town in Northern Ireland. The population sits just over 2,100 and features two notable landmarks listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the McClay’s Twin Bridge East and West. Both McClay’s bridges are multi-span stone arch bridges that connect Lurgan Township to Southampton Township. They were both constructed in the 1820s and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Like Shippensburg, Lurgan is a historic Cumberland Valley community. In the 1730s, Scotch-Irish families came to the area and built cabins. The area grew over time as a western outpost of colonial settlement and developed thanks to travelers passing through and the addition of the railroad decades later. The railroad was known as the Harrisburg and Potomac Railroad and eventually became known as the Reading Railroad. The railroad increased commercial interest in the town and led to numerous small businesses being opened in Lurgan and Shippensburg. While neither town increased in population dramatically in response to interest from travelers, the pubs and boarding houses served the railroad visitors.

Today, Lurgan, PA remains a lovely community filled with small businesses, charming homes and plenty of history. If you are a Lurgan, PA homeowner in need of a more efficient way to keep your home warm during the winter months, we can help. Penn-Mar Oil Company is here to help.
