Greenvillage, PA is a small community in Franklin County that experiences cold winter weather, ice, snow and sleet every year. Unfortunately, low temperatures often mean high energy bills for many homeowners. If you’re in need of high-quality, clean burning heating oil, we are always only a call away.

Greenvillage was named after Greene Township and sometimes called Greene Village, Green Village, Greevillage and Greenvillage. While the community has been through many different names, one thing has remained the same—the awesome small-town feel and vibrant community. Greene Township was established in 1788 and is named after Nathaniel Greene. Nathaniel was a prominent General who served in the Revolutionary War.

The first settlement in Greenvillage, PA was the Culbertson family in the mid-1700s. The first settlers in the area were Scotch-Irish Presbyterians. The community developed thanks to the numerous gristmills clustered along the Conococheague Creek. The surrounding land was used for agriculture, including a massive 200-apple tree farm that started a robust fruit industry.

Greenvillage played a role in the Civil War when Confederate forces camped near the Caledonia Forge and furnace. The troops burned down the iron works to thwart Pennsylvania troops. Confederate troops also attempted to burn a railroad bridge that was part of the Cumberland Valley Railroad but were unable to because the bridge was made of iron.

After the Civil War concluded, Greenvillage remained a hub of agriculture. It’s grown over time but still holds a small-town feel. The town is full of local charm, quaint homes and even a drive-in family restaurant!

If you are a Greenvillage, PA homeowner in need of a more efficient way to keep your home warm during the winter months, we can help. Penn-Mar Oil Company is here to help. To learn more about our services or schedule a delivery today, give us a call at (717) 276-9623
