Foxville, MD Heating Oil Delivery:

Foxville Fuel Oil

Foxville Fuel Oil

Foxville, MD is a charming Frederick County community located just off of Maryland Route 77. While the town has a warm and inviting atmosphere, residents experience tons of winter weather including snow, ice, sleet, rain and frigid temperatures. Many Foxville residents are stuck paying high heating bills as a result. Thankfully, Penn-Mar Oil Company offers all Foxville, MD homeowners cost-effective, convenient and high-quality heating oil delivery all winter long.

Foxville, MD was settled in the late 18th century primarily by German immigrants moving south from settlements in Pennsylvania. The earliest residents of Foxville were the Fox, Wolfe, Hauver, Poorman and Brown families. The town was nestled along the main path between Emmitsburg and Hagerstown, and the Wolfe family created a tavern on the route in the early 1800s to get business from travelers passing through.

As people stopped by the town and decided to stay, Foxville was finally given its name based on the largest landowners in the area—the Fox family. In 1830, the first church in the town was erected, Mount Moriah Lutheran Church, followed by the Mount Bethel Methodist Episcopal Church. In the second half of the 19th century, the city continued to grow and added a public school, general store and wagon shop operated by Thomas Fox of the Fox family.

Over the course of the Great Depression, workers constructed Camp Hi Catoctin on a mountain near Foxville to serve as a retreat for government employees and their families. Shortly after, the camp was converted to a presidential retreat known as Shangri-La. President Dwight D. Eisenhower named the retreat Camp David when his administration began.

Until it was closed in 1962, Foxville’s school was the longest-running two-room school in operation in Frederick County. A great deal of the original Foxville, MD architecture survives today. Most older structures were made of stone and logs, and landmarks like the Wolfe Tavern are still standing today.

If you are a Foxville, MD homeowner in need of a more cost-effective and high-quality way to keep your home warm during the coldest months of the year, we can help. Penn-Mar Oil Company is always here for your heating oil needs. To learn more about our services or schedule a delivery today, give us a call at (717) 276-9623
